Team awarded a research project with State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company

On 11 May 2026, the team and the Wuxi Power Supply Branch of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd. signed the contract for research on satellite-enabled UAV disaster assessment and coordinated emergency resource scheduling. The project addresses extreme-disaster response needs of the Wuxi power grid.
It focuses on communication outages, difficult disaster information acquisition and inefficient resource scheduling during typhoons, heavy rain and other disasters. The work covers integrated space–air–ground communication, multimodal disaster information fusion and coordinated scheduling of emergency communication resources. UAV-mounted satellite terminals and supporting software will be developed for disaster assessment, data return and emergency command.
The project deepens collaboration with power utilities on disaster prevention and mitigation. It aims to integrate satellite internet, UAVs and intelligent decision support into emergency operations, improving disaster awareness, communication assurance and coordinated response in Wuxi, with methods that may be transferable to other grids.
